Homemade Salsa Dip for Nachos (Cooked version)

This simply fresh and easy to make homemade recipe of salsa is prepared from tomatoes, onion, garlic, and green chillies. I don’t like the taste of the packed or canned version of salsa and this homemade version of the recipe tastes amazing. A canned or store-bought version of the salsa is not good for your health too, as it is loaded with lots of preservatives and chemicals.

Most of the Mexican salsa recipes are uncooked that is why they cannot be stored for up to days but our recipe of tomato salsa is a cooked version that is why it can be stored for days.

I like my salsa to be spicy and sour, you can add some jalapeno if available in this recipe. This will make the dip spicier and adjust the taste as per your preference. And apart from nachos, you can also enjoy this delicious dip in various Mexican dishes like tacos, enchiladas, or quesadillas.

Let’s see how to prepare this delicious homemade salsa for nachos:

I have prepared this recipe by first roasting the tomatoes well over the flame until when all the outer covering of tomato turn black. After then remove the outer layer and then chop half of the tomatoes and then puree the remaining one.

After that saute for few minutes the chopped onions, garlic, chillies, chopped tomatoes and puree in some oil.

Adding tomatoes to salsa

Now is the turn of taste-enhancing ingredients like tomato ketchup, salt, pepper, oregano and other herbs. After adding these ingredients I just mix it for a few minutes and finally enjoyed with favourite chips.

Instructions
  1. Roast all tomatoes on direct flame till it is charred.
  2. Peel, and chop all the tomates. Make puree of half of the tomatoes and keep half of the chopped tomatoes aside.
  3. Now heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions and green chilies into it.
  4. When the onions turns soft add all pureed and chopped tomatoes to it.
  5. Add rest of the ingredients and mix well.
  6. Cook for 2 minutes and remove immediately.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve along with your favourite chips.
